Director james cameron completed the script work in 1994 itself with all his inspiration from science fiction books that he read when he was a kid.He announced in august 1996 that after completing titanic he will film avatar which will use computer generated characters... The project would cost 100 million dollars and film may need six actors in lead roles

Cameron had a partnership with digital domain a visual effect house and planned to start production by 1997 and to release by 1999 but then he realized that the technology haven't be developed enough to make his dream true.. Then he decided to do documentaries and refining technology for next few years...
cameron was working on two projects "Battle Angel" and tentatively named project 880 in year 2005. But he found the advancement in technology and turned his plan of making "AVATAR". Throughout first half of year 2006 he was working on script which includes navi's culture and also their language.In july 2006 he announced that he would film "AVATAR" for mid 2008 release and planned of starting photography by february of 2007. Weta Digital joined cameron in production of avatar.By sept 2006, cameron announced that he will be using his own creation Reality Camera system to film the movie in 3D. Estimated cost of making was 270-320 million$ and 150 million$ more for marketing. Then the official shoot was started by april of 2007 and the movie was premiered on December 10 2009 in London and theater released world wide from Dec 16-18... Now every one of us knows how the movie was going on...
